Kristin believes in this idea so much, that she brings this approach to her own home, which she’s customized for herself, her husband, and three strong independent girls. On an average Saturday, after (multiple) lengthy swim meets, you’ll still find her committed to the beautiful pleasures in everyday life. There’s always fresh flowers on the table and great wine in the kitchen in their home in Mount Vernon.

Laura Wainwright

Designer 

A native Alexandrian, Laura's passion for design and old homes began when her husband Mark and she purchased their first home in Del Ray. Inspired by her father's can-do attitude, the couple rolled up their sleeves and dug in, updating their home in Laura's signature style influenced by the natural beauty of the Potomac and a sense of timeless family traditions.

Since joining Kristin Try Interiors, Laura's specialty has become kitchen and bath design. Laura's timeless aesthetic creates inviting spaces that flow seamlessly. She loves helping people create a home that is beautiful, livable and a true reflection of the homeowner. Laura grew up along the George Washington Parkway in the beautiful Fort Hunt area and attended Lynchburg College, receiving her degree in Political Science. After returning to her childhood neighborhood to raise her two children, Laura worked as a real estate agent, a horseback riding instructor and a trade shows salesperson for a thriving, locally owned brand. When her kids went to college, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a designer and returned to school to earn a degree in design. 

Happiest outdoors and a lifelong equestrian, you can often find Laura at the barn where she continues to work on her riding skills. Her passion for design and nature has her working on the lake house built by her own father, now owned by Laura. She is creating their dream home on the water. When she's not diving headfirst into the design process, you can find her on the dock at sunset with her husband, her dog and a cocktail.
